Luan Quach is an award-winning Canadian watercolor artist, portrait painter, educator, and juror known for his luminous use of light, compelling storytelling, and emotional depth. Through his paintings, he seeks to help people discover light, beauty, and hope through art.
Born in Vietnam, Luan began studying art at the age of nine under the guidance of five accomplished teachers. After arriving in Canada as a Vietnamese refugee, he built a successful career in the automotive engineering industry, where precision, analytical thinking, and creative problem-solving became an important part of his artistic foundation.
Working exclusively in watercolor, Luan creates expressive portraits that go beyond physical likeness, capturing the character, emotion, and stories that make each person unique.
His work has received international recognition through juried exhibitions and competitions, earning more than 65 awards across 20 countries. His paintings are held in private collections worldwide, and he is frequently commissioned to create meaningful portraits that honor the lives and stories of his subjects.
In addition to his studio practice, Luan shares his knowledge through workshops, demonstrations, mentoring, and judging. He believes that learning to paint begins with learning to see.
Guided by his faith in Jesus Christ, Luan seeks to use his art and teaching to encourage others, share hope, and serve through the gifts he has been given.
